You’ve got something really nice going on here! It’s a great start to a novel, and I think it has a lot of potential. The setting is interesting, the writing solid, and there’s a good, broad cast of characters. The characters work together well, and are each interesting in their own right. The sprite-work and CG art is, frankly, gorgeous, and is backed up by well-chosen BG art. The music is also top-notch, and caters well to what’s going on at any moment. I find that particularly impressive, by the way.
I appreciate the design choice to make Chapter 2 its own self-contained story. That works nicely, in my opinion, and I hope it’s something you’ll continue to do in later chapters. It makes reading an update a satisfying experience, rather than leaving the reader wondering when a ‘to be continued screen’ will pop up!
There have been some negative comments on here, but I hope they haven’t discouraged you. While I only focused on the one route, Edward’s, I thought the pacing there was absolutely fine. Chapter 2 stood well on its own, and introduced some interesting ideas and character points that can be followed up in later chapters. I had no particular problem with the MC, whose actions seem reasonable to me given the situation and his background. For my money, he didn’t seem annoying either, but that’s just my opinion. I also liked the nautical navigation scene, too. I thought it worked well in the setting, and seemed fair enough to me. But again, opinions will vary.
Anyway, I hope you’re pleased with what you’ve made so far. You’ve made something good here, and I look forward to seeing where you go with it all in the future!
Im currently playing chapter 2 and like wtf is up with the pacing, character development and so on. Like was the mc supposed to be afraid when his dad called him "a naughty boy", because that took away ALL the tension. Also, so i can buy when know how to navigate....but HOW do we know the exact location we ended up in and know where the pirates took us if we were unconscious, with 0 time to verify, do we have GPS in our heads because you use the stars to navigate by sea. *Edit* Now this just made me out the game down, a little afterwards we get a scene of the mc actually using the proper instruments and a proper way to chart the current location?! This just make the previous scene not only unnecessary but it also points out how wierd we knew every location just by looking at a map! Sorry this just pissed me off, did no one proof read this and said how odd this all was? *End of edit* Also are we a prisoner, merchandise or a special guess, because we can go wherever we want and do basically anything and are kinda treated like royalty. These things just take me out of the immersion
Not gonna lie, the last update was… kinda bad. The game tried to go more mature route and just fell flat on its face while doing that.
First of all, I’m really tired of victim protagonist trope, and here it isn’t even executed that well. The sister throws the most cartoony insults at him, and his Dad just beats him from time to time which was considered pretty normal irl in pre-modern times, yet appaarently its a child abuse now. Okay.
But that’s all got nothing on what happened next.
So I played Mac’s route (not interested in others anymore) and the sequence of events that happened there just baffled me to no end. So basically after encountering bunch of slaves on an island Mac had a bit of PTSD when witnessing slavery going on so he convinces MC to save them… an he agress… and then they do.
And there is so much wrong with the sequence of events that followed that I don’t even know where to start:
* The fact that short twink like Mac somehow managed to solo overpower bunch of guards;
* The fact that those guards were just people doing their job;
* The fact that slaves they have freed don’t really have anywhere to go and would probably starve on the streets anyway;
* The fact that the whole thing is happening on an island so they will be probably be returned to slavery shortly thereafter anyway;
* The fact that Mac and MC have endangered their entire crew by doing that stunt;
* The fact that all of the above are somehow considered to be a positive thing that happened.
So positive, in fact, that MC has learned such a shocking lesson that it’s actually good not to be selfish asshole from time to time. And he has learned this lesson from a pirate. From a *pirate*. While being a *noble*.
I… I mean… I can’t with this writing man.
This game should have stayed just a silly furry dating sim.
I agree with 90% of your points, I do get extremely tired of the
victim/depressed/idiot/whining-demanding to their captives that could kill them
sticking there nose where it doesn't belong/curiosity killed the cat character syndrome/whiny baby/everyone for some reason loves the mc after not even a day of knowing them
can't be left alone for 1 second or else they will have a panic attack or do something incredibly stupid/extremely weak body/tripping over their feet so someone can save them/save the princess syndrome/can't do simple tasks
incompetent/inferiority complex/for no reason every character likes them even know the mc has been whining-demanding things in a situation that would likely get anyone killed in this situation/door knob personality tropes thats in 90% of vns
I am LOVING this. I'm a fan of all pirate media, but a gay furry pirate vn with lovable characters and a protag that has an actual personality?! I'll be following this hella closely and you can expect me to join the Discord server the second it's open!
Extremely good story so far, as well as astronomically high cuteness levels from Mac. Can't wait for future updates to find out what happens next in the story, as well as hopes for more story content with Mac.
*never mind I was never asked to pick safe or not safe for work but there's a setting in preferences.*
I don't want to be that guy but what's with the blurring of genitals at the start of the game. I am on the Android build, even with it blurred it's not safe for work so I don't really get it.
Especially considering Mac said you can look all you want...?
I'm enjoying the game so far though! And it's not that big of a deal just had to ask.
What a wonderfully colourful crew! 😁 All the characters are well contrived and very interesting 🙂
Really fun concept, beautiful art, and good writing 😌 awesome all 'round~ I'm sure a 1nce over will certainly help the writing to flow perfectly, but I honestly can't complain about a single thing 😋
I'm sooo happy to find another FVN that incorporates feral genitals, as most sadly go for plain old human dongs 😢 I mean, the best thing about furries are their diversity! 😏
My favourite is Edward ☺️ he's so big and cute and kind and handsome and-! [screams in fanboy] 😍
Is Blackhorn named for the horns on his head or the horn in his pants? 😲 should I start imagining fish sticks poking out of pirate slits?? 🤔 Concerned about becoming pudge on a croc's belly??? 😱 Worried a dog will bury his bone in my backyard!?? 🤯 All these questions drive my gay mind wild with ideas 😂
High Praise for High Seas 😄 seriously, great job. Keep it up! 😉
Amazing work so far, Gatr! Absolutely loved this first build. All four characters are so varied and unique, with such strong character voices and personalities. Not to mention the protagonist as well! It's always nice to see VNs where ther protagonist is a character as opposed to a blank slate. The art and music is fantastic too, fits perfectly for the setting. It's clear that a lot of heart was put into crafting every aspect of this story, and I am more than excited to see where this all goes soon. Will definitely be following this closely, and I eagerly await the next build!
FYI to anybody reading this, there is a juicy CG in one of the routes, so make sure you explore them all to see it!
I like it so far! The art looks cool, and you have an intriguing MC. I will say that the whole gay furry pirate thing has been done by "My Pirate Husbandos" on here, so I'd probably brace for some comparisons between the two.
Good intro, and nice to see a human protagonist thats got a stronger character than other novels. Keep up the good work! One opinion is to have possible different writing to a story depending on which character route you pick, otherwise when you play it again to pick a different route the story becomes stale and you start skipping, as you have been through it so many times.
I would have to disagree with the criticism of making the protagonist an anthro. By him being human and the crew all being anthro, it allows diversity within the story and allows the character to grow as he experiences a new life on the ship and builds relationships with the crew members. Overall I loved the story.
Someone originally posted that the main character should be an anthro along with the rest of the crew members but by them being a human of different background it brings an element of excitement instead of the same old storyline with similar characters.
Personally I disagree, I already feel like there's plently of VNs that are like that. Also I prefer more escapism with a non-human protag, but you do you.
isn’t escapism assumes you need your surrgate to escape with?… isn’t it the reason why all of those isekais exist out there? Because if not then what kind of escapism even is that?

Really enjoyed this story! Looking forward to future builds.
Can't wait for more
Acabei de terminar, eu estou gostando bastante, continue o bom trabalho. Obrigado.
Muitas aventuras nos aguardam no Mar, eu quero saber mais sobre os personagens também, é um ambiente convidativo e divertido.
Just played new build, can't wait for the next one <3
Great update!
Personally I would prefer the protagonist not to be human.
i love it! my fav character is the captain! i cant wait to see how this game progresses!
one of the few furry vns where the characters dont suddenly go from looking weird in idles to becoming super hot in cgs thank youussss

Loving the story so far. Good character development , and story flows well.
Only request at this point, possibly a button to hide ui. Would be able to see certain scenes better

Pretty enjoyable and fresh take on furry dating sims.

What diversity exactly?
Diversity of races that exist within the setting. Thought this was pretty obvious
I mean diversity in stories is what I'm asking.

What a cliff hanger!
Amazing novel though, its unique and has loveable characters. Added this collection. :)
